Everyone should be able to make labels here, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, screen magnification or voice control.
What we aim for, and how we check
Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We check with automated tests on every page in both color themes, keyboard-only walkthroughs of the whole tool, 400% zoom, text spacing overrides, forced colors (Windows high contrast) and reduced motion. Every color pair in the design is measured for contrast on each build. We have not had an independent audit, and we do not claim that every page fully meets WCAG 2.2 AA.
In the tool, every control has a label (visible, except the two sheet-pager arrows, which are named for screen readers), status and error messages are announced, buttons that cannot act yet say why when pressed rather than disappearing from the keyboard order, the start-position picker works with the arrow keys, and the previews carry text descriptions of what will print.
Known limitations
- The PDFs the tool makes are print layouts. Their text can be selected and read aloud, but they are not tagged for screen readers.
- The sheet preview is a drawing. Its text description gives the sheet number, how many labels print on it and what the first label says, not every label; the downloaded PDF has the full text.
- Dragging a file onto the page is optional: the same file can always be chosen with the keyboard, or its cells pasted.
If something does not work for you
